Today a customer called me. I spoke with him weeks ago in regards to getting a website setup for his business. He called me back and said a friend of his was going to do it. Now I’ve heard this before and hey sometimes a friend can do a good job, but if you want you want a website that really works you need to higher a professional.

I was speaking with a client today that had his website done by someone that wasn’t a “professional” it was cheap and affordable. Sadly getting a cheap and affordable website is going to cost you a lot more in the long run. Once a potential client sees your web design and if its not professional they are gone never to come back. Make sure your web design includes at least these 5 essentials:
Navigation – Make sure that when your website is complete it is easy to navigate and that all navigational links work. Nothing is more frustrating then visiting someones website and having poor navigation. If it isn’t easy to find exactly what I’m looking for instantly then your navigation is not working. Titles – The customer I spoke with today actually did have titles on his website but they put the exact same title for every page. Titles of a page are a huge factor when considering SEO. Make sure that each page does have a title and it is relevant.
Site map – A site map is a very important tool. It ensures that Google will search all pages on your website. Sometimes the bots will have trouble finding all your pages with a site map those troubles are eliminated. You would be surprised how many people do not have site maps in my honest opinion I bet over 60% of current online web sites do not have any site map. Make sure your web designer includes a site map.
SEO- Every site Milwaukee Web Design makes is built to be SEO friendly, but so many designers do not. They use web design technology 5 years old to build your website. Make sure this isn’t happening to you. Furthermore proper SEO is more then just submitting your website to search engines don’t be fooled over 90% of your potential customers today are Googling if your not on the front of google you will not be found.
Built in contact form – Make sure your web design has a built in contact form some where on your site. If it doesn’t it becomes a hassle to contact you if anyone is interested in your services. The point of the internet is to make accessing information easy and you need to make sure that it is as easy as possible for your potential clients to contact you. Make sure you have a custom contact form built right into your website.
